What if you could control your whole life with the click of a button? Change you job, go to school, meet new friends, ECT. Wellyou can't. But Kudos is the next closet thing! This game, while starting out may seem a bit boring and pointless is actually a very addictive strategy game. The point of Kudos is to get your character through ten years of life working its way up through both the social ladder, and the employee status.

You begin “life' on your twentieth birthday in Slough, a Suburb of London, England. Well, you're ten years pass after about three hours of going to work, coming home and choosing only one activity. Even on the weekend, only one activity is open before the day is over. Tell mehow many times has a bath take up your entire Saturday?

It seems that you can't really have a happy medium in this game. If you go out to much, you don't have any money, if you stay in to much you are reclusive and lose your friends. I do however think that this game is lifelike in that perspective. You can not have a happy medium in life, so why have one in the game?

Though the game might be a bit more exciting if you were to actually go to the places your character goes in the game, its still a dreadfully addicting game which caught me by surprise. I sat in front of my computer screen for hours playing the game. In one game I was a successful junior doctor with a cat, a dog, a guitar, a fair amount of money, and not many friends, and in another I was a partier with a lot of friends, a decent car washing job that paid the bills and still gave me money to party, and my faithful dog to scare away the burglars.

One thing I noticed in the game was that as I got older, I would get tired easier, gain weight easier, and get drunk easier. Also I found it nearly impossible to keep friends for a long period of time, let alone get a love interest.

Okay so maybe the whole reason I was addicted to the game is the fact that the music is a perfect relaxing sort of beat that just blends with the game very well and I love music very muchbut the game rocked to. It's easy to learn, fun for practically all ages, and it's like virtual role playing.

If you drink too much alcohol over a short time you will become an alcoholic and need to go to AA meetings to get yourself fixed. Honestly, after about an hour of play, I'd gotten fired from the worst possible job, lost all of my friends, was dirt poor, and aged about four years. Harsh? Yeah.

If you want to move up in the world you have to take classes. Courses are available in acting, medical, law, and others. If you're worried about being attacked on the streets, all you have to do is take a self defense class such as kung-fu.

You will find your character going through SEVERE mood swings. This is affected by what kind of a day they had at work, if they like work or not, how tired or stressed they are, or even how bored they are.

To see how well your relationship is with someone, merely glance at the silver lines connecting there picture to your character. The darker and thicker the line is the safer and better the relationship is. If you can't see a line, I suggest you hang out with that personimmediately

So, what path do you want to take? Do you want to be an English musician whose prize possession is there guitar and there cat? Or possibly you want to be a rich lawyer with lots of friends, hitting the clubs every night that you're not at law school? Maybe a doctor who makes money, but would rather stay in and read? The decision is yours.

Maybe you'll balance your alone time and your social time well, or maybe you won't balance it at all. If you're invited out for a social event but turn them down because your broke, or you have class, your friend is mad at you, not understanding why you turned them down.

So in conclusion, I firmly believe that this game is most definitely worth playing. It's a fun game that allows you to be whoever you want to be for a little bit. Summing up ten years of your life as “successful' or “a total and complete failure' is always fun right? So pull up a chair and a computer, and play Kudos for a while and make your own judgment on it. Maybe you'll start out a twenty year old waitress, and finish a thirty year old rich famous lawyer. It could happen!
